Including weather information in your Frankly Media OTT app is an optional feature that is particularly relevant to local broadcasters. If you would like to incorporate these updates in your digital engagement strategy, here are a few key elements to consider as part of your OTT app experience.
Meteorologist Video Reports
A powerful way of delivering your station’s branded weather report is by setting up a Meteorologist Video Report to play on your OTT app’s weather screen. When an end user lands on the Weather screen, the Meteorologist Video Report will auto-play, with audio on, so that they can consume the latest update published while being able to browse the rest of the detailed, text-based weather data. End users can also launch a full-screen video to focus on that particular content.
Meteorologist Text Reports
Another great way to bring a local feel to your station’s weather screen is by including a Meteorologist Text Report, just as you would on your website or mobile app. The Meteorologist Text Report can focus simply on the text or also include a profile image of the meteorologist who delivered the report. For content that extends beyond the default height within the app, end users can tap to view the whole report in full-screen mode.
Contextual Background Images
To bring a more dynamic feel to the weather screen, Frankly Media’s OTT apps are configured with an array of background images that are mapped to the various conditions, projecting imagery that highlights both the feel of the conditions and time of day. You may further customize this feature by defining your own imagery that reflects your station’s brand or highlights places within your DMA to give the app an even more local feel. To customize these images, please contact your Frankly Media Client Success rep.
