Today, our Senior Manager of Content & Promotions, Anne Marie Robson, answers another common question that we hear from clients looking for ways to boost online engagement.
How can I set up my email opt-ins to maximize new subscribers to my database?
Anne Marie: Great question! There are several things you can do to ensure your email opt-in process is optimized for driving new sign-ups to your newsletter and other subscriptions. First, it’s important to be clear about exactly what your subscribers are opting to receive, especially if you offer multiple subscriptions. For example, provide details about what members will find in their inbox if they opt into your monthly newsletter, morning show updates, or weekly featured deals mailing.
Next, offer something compelling to entice your audience to sign-up for your emails. Give them access to exclusive content that they can’t get anywhere else, such as special deals from businesses in your community or contests and promotions that are only accessible through your monthly newsletter. This type of content will have existing subscribers looking forward to your mailings and have new members scrambling to sign up!
Finally, once you’ve got members on the hook, keep them opening your emails each month by keeping the expectations you set when they first subscribed. If you promised to send mailings at a certain frequency and provide high quality content, deliver on those promises.
Following these tips can not only increase your subscription rates, but it can also boost email opens and click-throughs and decrease unsubscribes from your database.
