Q&A: Creating digital content on a budget

Today, our Senior Manager of Content & Promotions, Anne Marie Robson, answers another common question that we hear from clients looking for ways to boost online engagement.

My station doesn’t have a graphic designer on staff. How can I create my own attractive content on a budget?

Anne Marie: Good question! We’ve previously discussed how to run inexpensive yet engaging contests, but many of you have asked how to create enticing graphics for these promotions with limited resources. Thankfully, there are a wide variety of free or inexpensive tools and services available online that you can use to design the perfect images, templates, and more for your digital content. For example, the design software from Canva offers a simple, affordable solution for creating graphics for a variety of purposes, from email templates, blog headers, and social media graphics to printable posters and flyers. Their vast library of stock images offers high-quality clip art, icons, and professional photographs for $1 or less per use–many of the images are free! Canva also allows you to re-size your designs to fit a wide range of dimension specifications, making it easy to optimize your promotional graphics for different social media sites. Of course, this is only one of many products out there that you can use to achieve great graphics. Bannersnack and Vectr are a couple of my other personal favorites.
