Monday Marketing Tip: Get personal (about email subject lines!)

Start the week with a boost in audience engagement with our Monday Marketing Tip series!

Today’s advice will help increase your chance of connecting with your audience through email by using personalization. The subject is the first thing your members will see when you send an update, newsletter, or special offer to their inbox, so it’s your one shot to compel them to open your message!

One way to easily catch your audience’s attention is through the use of personalization tokens. Inserting these will cause the member’s name to show up directly in the subject line. For example, “Shannon, don’t miss Kings of Leon next week!” is more compelling than “Don’t miss Kings of Leon, in town next week!” If you prefer not to include a name token, you could still use “you” or “your” in the subject line to make it feel as if the email is addressing the member directly.

Incorporating personalization is just one way to increase your open rates. Check out our 5 tips for improving your overall email strategy to learn other ways you can optimize your next newsletter or campaign message.
